Choose single blastocyst transfer or hope to conceive twin babies

In my work, I often meet patients who say to me that I want to have a double pregnancy so that I can solve the problem twice at once. But is a twin birth really as good as it seems? As it turns out, that’s just what we think. The twin birth rate at our center in 2010 was 33%, which is significantly higher than the 5.5% for singleton births. Not only that, but newborn birth weight was also significantly lower than that of singleton deliveries. On the contrary, single blastocyst transfer is now promoted, which not only does not affect the pregnancy rate, but mainly increases the rate of carrying the baby home, which also results in a good obstetric outcome. We summarized the blastocyst transfer from January to August 2012 and found that the pregnancy rate of single blastocyst transfer was basically comparable to that of double blastocyst transfer, but could significantly reduce the rate of multiple births. This effectively prevented adverse neonatal obstetric outcomes. Therefore, we encourage you to choose single blastocyst transfer whenever possible. Have your lovely baby sooner than later!
