“Artificial insemination” or IUI, we refer to “intrauterine insemination with husband’s semen”, which in layman’s terms means injecting the husband’s semen into the woman’s cervical canal after treatment, so that the sperms swim through the uterine cavity into the fallopian tubes to reach the jugular abdominal area, where they meet with the egg discharged by the woman and fertilize the egg. Here, the sperm meets with the egg discharged by the woman and is fertilized to form a fertilized egg, which will further implant and conceive. Unlike natural pregnancy, “artificial insemination by husband’s sperm” involves the elimination of male-female intercourse and the selection of sperm with good motility to be injected into the woman’s reproductive tract. Therefore, infertile couples with at least one fallopian tube open and normal ovulation can choose Husband Sperm Insemination (HSI) as the preferred method of assisted conception.
