How to choose the treatment method for liver cancer patients?

The treatment methods of liver cancer are mainly decided according to the stage of tumor and patient’s condition 1. For early stage liver cancer below 3cm, surgical resection and local interventional ablation have comparable efficacy, therefore, both surgical resection and radiofrequency/microwave/freezing ablation are optional treatment methods. 2.Single nodal tumor foci of 3-5cm in size, the efficacy of surgical resection and local ablation is comparable. 3.For large hepatocellular carcinoma larger than 5cm, surgery and interventional treatment (TACE) are optional. 4.Tumor volume exceeding 50% of liver volume; tumor diffusely distributed, exceeding 2/3 of normal liver area; or tumor infiltrating surrounding large blood vessels such as the lower vena cava should be selected for TACE operation. 5.For advanced hepatocellular carcinoma, the patient’s general condition is extremely poor and cannot tolerate surgery or interventional therapy, symptomatic supportive therapy is the main treatment, supplemented by biological and immunotherapy.
