Causes of dry eye in children?

Many parents think that their child has tics or a micronutrient deficiency, but sometimes the child has dry eye. Dry eye is one of the most common diseases in ophthalmology clinics; it is caused by inadequate or uneven tear production or excessive evaporation of tears, resulting in the inability of the tears to properly keep the surface of the eye moist. Nowadays, children with untreated conjunctivitis or prolonged exposure to computers/recurrent chalazion may cause dry eye, especially in children with allergic conjunctivitis, where the percentage of dry eye is increasing. If your child blinks frequently or has recurrent red eyes or dry eyes, please visit an ophthalmologist to check the tear film.
