Dry eye conditions

”Recently, my eyes are often dry and unbearable, and I always feel that there is something in my eyelids, so I feel better if I put drops of eye lubricant in my eyes, but if I don’t, I will go back to my old self. A colleague told me that I am suffering from dry eyes, but isn’t dry eyes an eye disease that only comes from dry and windy days in winter and spring?” Recently, Ms. Li asked about dry eyes. Summer is a humid and hot season, but in recent years, more and more people suffer from dry eyes, and the main culprit is the air conditioners that people use frequently. In addition to regulating the indoor temperature, air conditioners also dehumidify and reduce the moisture content in the air. When you stay in an air-conditioned room for a long time, the evaporation rate of the tear film increases, which makes your eyes dry and astringent. Dry eyes in summer are more common among people who face computers and wear contact lenses in air-conditioned rooms for long periods of time. What is the tear film? Tear film is the first protective film that covers the surface of the cornea, and when its stability decreases, the eyes become dry and uncomfortable. The U.S. Dry Eye Research Group broadly classifies dry eye into two types: those with insufficient tear production and those with excessive tear evaporation. The treatment for dry eye is still alternative therapy based on artificial tears, which causes a lot of trouble in patients’ lives because of the need for long-term medication. Therefore, it is extremely important to prevent the occurrence of dry eye. In addition to blinking more often, it is also important not to rub your eyes with your hands and to close your eyes or look away every hour. People who use computers for long periods of time should pay more attention to the sitting posture and distance from the computer. Generally speaking, keep the distance from the computer screen at more than 60 cm, especially adjust the angle of the display screen so that the line of sight can be kept at a position of about 30 degrees downward, such an angle can minimize the area of the eye surface exposed to the air and reduce the evaporation of tears. If the conditions allow, try to avoid continuous use of computers for a long time, also try to reduce the use of air conditioning time, if the air conditioning is always on, you can regularly open the window ventilation, or put an air humidifier nearby, so that the humidity is maintained between 30%-50%, is also a good remedy. On the prevention of dry eye, diet: long-term in the air-conditioned room engaged in computer operators, to eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, while increasing the intake of vitamin A, B1, C, E. You can drink green tea and chrysanthemum tea properly every day, because the lipopolysaccharide in tea can improve the hematopoietic function of the muscle, and tea also has the function of preventing radiation damage.
