What are the common causes of dry eyes?

  Prolonged outdoor exposure to wind and sand or sunlight; prolonged indoor use of air conditioning; prolonged exposure to computer screens, cell phones, or reading; poor sleep; allergic conjunctivitis; conjunctival laxity; inflammation of the lid margin, lid gland dysfunction; incomplete lid closure; neurological disorders.  Such as facial nerve palsy; history of eye surgery, such as keratoconus surgery, cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, etc.; systemic immune system diseases (such as dry syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, etc.); acid and alkaline burns and thermal burns of the eye; long-term contact lens wear; menopause, especially in women; long-term use of some drugs, such as oral contraceptives, antidepressants, atropine, etc.
