Tacrolimus-related food allergy after liver transplantation

Food allergy has been reported in approximately 5-20% of pediatric patients after liver transplantation. There have been reports of tacrolimus-related food allergies after pediatric liver transplantation. Food allergy should be considered in children younger than 1 year of age with liver transplantation who develop wheezing, facial edema, lip edema, rash, eosinophilia, and elevated IgE after eating some foods. Treatment can be given as anti-allergic treatment by finding allergens and avoiding them and changing tacrolimus to cyclosporine A.
