What are the signs of facial palsy?

Facial palsy is the common name for facial nerve paralysis, which is a common and frequent disease, and the number of people suffering from facial palsy increases steeply in winter when it is cold. If the cold wind blows directly on the face for a long time, the face will be stimulated by excessive cold to cause spasm of the blood vessels that locally nourish the nerve, resulting in ischemic edema of that nerve tissue and causing the disease. In some patients, the facial nerve is swollen, compressed and damaged due to overexertion, viral colds and other factors, causing facial palsy. After facial palsy, the facial expression muscles are completely paralyzed, the forehead wrinkles disappear, the eye fissures become larger, the nasolabial folds flatten, the corners of the mouth droop, the corners of the mouth are crooked when the teeth are exposed, half of the face cannot make expression movements such as wrinkling the forehead, and the mouth cannot be closed. It should be reminded that some facial palsy has aura, and the virus invades the auditory nerve, cochlea, and vestibular nerve in addition to the facial nerve. Some patients may feel a swelling and pain in the area behind the affected ear one to three days before the onset of the disease, and some may have migraine headaches or a herpes in the affected ear. According to statistics, about 80% of patients with facial palsy have had pain behind the ear, usually a vague pain, and some patients with sensitive senses can perceive it as a distending pain. Once it develops, go to a regular hospital in time to avoid missing the best treatment time.
