How much pneumothorax compression needs to be treated

When a pneumothorax occurs, it needs to be treated accordingly regardless of the amount of lung tissue compression. For example, for patients with less than 20% pneumothorax, i.e., a small amount of pneumothorax, they should be treated under observation, avoiding strenuous activities, bed rest and oxygen therapy, and most pneumothorax patients can heal by themselves in about 10 days. If the results are not good, patients can also be treated by thoracentesis. For pneumothorax with more than 20%, patients with obvious symptoms of wheezing need to be treated with oxygen therapy and closed chest drainage in order to make their lung tissues reopen better and the pneumothorax heal better and faster. At the same time of closed chest drainage, antibiotics can usually be given to prevent chest infection. Therefore, when pneumothorax occurs, corresponding measures should be taken to promote the healing of pneumothorax.
