What eye drops are good for trachoma

Commonly used eye drops for trachoma are 0.1% rifampicin eye drops, 0.1% phthalidone eye drops or 0.5% neomycin eye drops 4 times/day, and erythromycin or tetracycline eye ointment at night for a course of at least 10-12 weeks. Trachoma is a chronic infectious conjunctival keratitis caused by Chlamydia trachomatis infection. In the acute stage of trachoma, eye drops alone are not enough, but systemic antibiotic treatment is needed, including oral doxycycline 100mg twice/day and erythromycin 1g in 4 daily doses, but remember that children under 7 years old and pregnant women should not use tetracycline to avoid dental and bone damage.
