Vascular reticulocytoma, also known as hemangioblastoma, is a true intracranial vascular tumor that accounts for 1.3%-2.4% of intracranial tumors. Most of them occur in the cerebellar hemispheres, occasionally in the brainstem, and very rarely in the cerebral hemispheres. Patients are more common between the ages of 20 and 40, and more males than females. The disease has a familial tendency and sometimes occurs in association with extracranial lesions such as retinal hemangioma, renal, pancreatic cysts and hepatic hemangioma. The tumor is mostly cystic in nature, with a cystic nodule within the cyst that is rich in blood supply. Clinical manifestations include intracranial hypertension, cerebellar signs or focal symptoms or subarachnoid hemorrhage. Peripheral blood picture may have increased red blood cells and hemoglobin. Surgery is the treatment of choice with a good prognosis.
