Does earwax cause pulsatile tinnitus?

Earwax is medically known as cerumen. Cerumen blockage of the ear canal can cause tinnitus, but it is not usually considered pulsatile tinnitus. Pulsatile tinnitus is generally defined as a tinnitus whose frequency corresponds to the heartbeat and is partially associated with the clonic rhythm of a myoclonic seizure. With cerumen blocking the ear canal, patients may also experience conductive hearing loss, itching, a feeling of fullness and pain in the ear canal. When the cerumen is too large, it is advisable to seek medical attention to have it removed.
