CT alone cannot directly diagnose pulsatile tinnitus, but this test is an important tool in the diagnosis of pulsatile tinnitus. CT can help rule out structural abnormalities of the ear, detect cranial vascular lesions and help find the cause. If there is a mass in the blue tympanic membrane or behind the ear, a CT of the temporal bone should be done to rule out jugular venous bullae. Also, CT angiography can show both intraluminal, extraluminal and vascular wall lesions and can provide an important basis for the choice of surgical approach and prognosis for vascular pulsatile tinnitus.
