There are two main types of cervical cancer screening, HPV screening and cervical cytology screening. The cervical cytology test has a positive rate of over 70%, and the combined test with HPV can detect a positive rate of over 90%, so the accuracy rate of cervical cancer screening is higher. If it is a simple cervical cytology examination of the cervix, there is no problem at the time of examination, and it must be rechecked after 1 year. If the human papillomavirus and cytology of the cervix are negative at the same time, a recheck once in 3-5 years is sufficient. Because cervical cancer develops slowly, it takes at least 5 years from cervical precancer to cervical cancer, so cervical cytology examination once a year is able to detect it.
