How many years of abdominal dialysis can be done normally

The normal number of years of peritoneal dialysis can be done mainly depends on the specific condition of the patient, treatment and personal constitution, and the exact time varies from person to person. Under normal circumstances, patients with low glomerular filtration rate or kidney disease need to undergo peritoneal dialysis, which can play the role of blood purification. If patients are in good health themselves, they can usually be on dialysis for 5-10 years, which helps to relieve the condition. However, if the patient’s own water load is too high and complications such as catheter infection and peritoneal sclerosis occur, peritoneal dialysis cannot be continued and it is recommended that the treatment plan be adjusted under medical supervision. Therefore, the exact duration of peritoneal dialysis cannot be generalized. In addition, patients on peritoneal dialysis should record their urine output daily in their daily life and are prohibited from taking a tub bath. The diet should be low in salt and fat, and foods rich in vitamins and proteins can be consumed appropriately.
