Patient Wei Moumou, male, 53 years old, visited the hospital in March 2007 because of pain in the right upper abdomen, diagnosed as primary hepatocellular carcinoma, tumor size about 7cm, underwent right lobe resection of liver, recovered well after surgery, regular follow-up, in 2010 developed pain in the right lower limb, severe pain, difficulty in walking, diet and sleep were seriously affected, depressed all day, quality of life was extremely poor, re-admitted to the hospital for CT of lumbar spine suggesting “The diagnosis of primary liver cancer and bone metastasis was considered. The treatment was tricky, but the helpless eyes of the patient and her family made us feel pressure. Under the leadership of the department head, the whole medical staff made a decision after repeated discussions, integrated the advantages of our department and combined with the characteristics of the patient, to develop an aggressive estimation and treatment plan, and performed lumbar I125 particle implantation + radiofrequency ablation of hepatocellular carcinoma under CT guidance. One week after the operation, the patient’s lower limb pain was relieved significantly and he could walk on the ground without crutches. The liver tumor showed necrosis and the blood supply of the lesion disappeared. Up to now, the patient is still alive with tumor. This case reflects the good efficacy of I125 particle implantation and radiofrequency ablation in the treatment of metastatic liver cancer, which has its unique features compared with other methods, including precise relief of cancer pain, small trauma (no need to operate again) and fast recovery, which can effectively prolong the survival time and improve the late life quality of cancer patients.
