How to treat small kidney cysts

If the diagnosis is confirmed as a small cyst in the kidney, it needs to be judged according to the size of the cyst diameter. In general, if the diameter is less than five centimeters and there are no clinical symptoms, it can be left untreated and regular outpatient review is sufficient. If the diameter is up to five centimeters and there are symptoms such as back pain and swelling, surgery can be considered. If the diameter is more than six centimeters, it is causing pressure on the kidney and has a certain impact on the kidney function, which needs to be actively treated. There are generally two types of treatment, one is laparoscopic decompression surgery for kidney cysts and the other is to do cyst puncture under ultrasound guidance. However, doing cyst puncture has certain requirements on the location of the cyst, and some parts of the cyst are more difficult to puncture, so surgery is usually chosen.
