In life, hemangioma is a very common disease, but people do not know much about the types of hemangioma, so what exactly is hemangioma? Benign tumors occurring from vascular tissue are called hemangiomas, 80% of which are congenital. Hemangioma can be divided into several types: capillary hemangioma, cavernous hemangioma, mixed hemangioma, trapezoid hemangioma, etc. 1.Capillary hemangioma is more common and is a vascular malformation. They consist of expanded and proliferated capillary network, including strawberry hemangioma and bright red nevus (commonly known as red birthmark). They are more common in female infants. Description of symptoms: Strawberry hemangioma mostly appears as red dots or small red spots on the skin at birth or early after birth, gradually increasing in size, deepening in red color and elevating above the normal skin surface; bright red nevus is mostly a red patch not higher than the skin surface, and the common point of both is that the tumor body has clear boundaries, which can be slightly receding when pressed and regains its red color after releasing the hand. Harmful effects: On the one hand, it affects the beauty, does not fade, may spread with the patient’s growth and development, easy to break down and bleed, and secondary infection. On the other hand, it may continue to develop subcutaneously and compress subcutaneous organs and tissues, causing changes in the morphology and function of subcutaneous organs and tissues, and in serious cases, compressing nerves and causing pain. 2.Mixed type hemangioma For capillary hemangioma, cavernous hemangioma and other types of hemangioma, two or more exist together at the same time. Symptom description: At the beginning, most of them are small red spots of different sizes on the skin surface, which are not different from simple strawberry hemangioma. However, as the surface hemangioma develops, it invades both the dermis and subcutaneous tissues, and the subcutaneous invasion may exceed the surface lesion area, forming a raised mass with irregular shape, which is mostly seen on the face and limbs. Harmful effects: Hybrid hemangioma is a rather serious type of hemangioma. It can invade subcutaneous tissues and grow in the vicinity of blood vessels and nerves. As the hemangioma increases and thickens, it may compress nerves and cause pain and necrosis of blood vessels and ischemic tissues. If the hemangioma grows in the joints of bone tissues, it may cause complications such as joint pain, impaired movement, and stiffness of joints. Once these complications are caused, it is difficult to return to normal. 3.Cavernous hemangioma, if the location is superficial, the local skin is inflated, high and low, undulating, and the skin surface is slightly blue or light purple, and the varicose and coiled blood vessels are faintly visible; if the location is deeper, the skin is not affected by cavernous hemangioma, and the skin color is not obviously changed except for the light and moderate inflated with irregular shape. Spongiform hemangioma can also be seen in the submucosa, with dark blue changes on the mucosal surface. The mass is compressible and its size may change with body position. Predisposed population: Infant girls are more frequent. It often increases in size during childhood or adolescence and is not obvious in adulthood. Symptom description: In addition to lesions located in the skin and subcutaneous tissue, they can also occur in the submucosa, muscle and even bone. Vascular damage is generally slow to develop, and most venous malformations are spongy, hence the name spongiotic hemangioma. Harmful effects: Spongiform hemangioma will not subside on its own, but will only grow indefinitely. If the affected area is on the head and face, it will affect the aesthetics and can cause deformities in severe cases. Spongiform hemangioma can also cause occupying lesions, compressing nerves, tendons, other tissues and organs, causing pain, deformity and other complications. Spongiform hemangioma in the extremities can cause swelling, deformity, and even invasion of the joints, resulting in acquired disabilities such as functional impairment. Spongiform hemangioma in the limbs can cause muscle atrophy, making the affected limbs smaller than normal limbs. 4.Trapezoid hemangioma Trapezoid hemangioma consists of a group of abnormal blood vessels that are varicose, meandering and coiled like intestinal loops. It is easy to be misdiagnosed as cavernous hemangioma in clinical practice. Symptom description: It is commonly found in the mouth, lips and limb areas. A round or oval elevated swelling can be seen, the skin is sometimes flushed, the skin may become purple-gray, and tortuous and curved vascular pulsations and peristalsis are faintly visible under the skin. A tremor can be felt when touched, and soft, enlarged blood vessels and pulsations in the form of cords can be touched. Harmful effects: Because the subcutaneous nerves can be intertwined with the hemangioma, the hemangioma can pull the nerves and cause pain when it pulsates, and local ulcers and bleeding infection can occur when it invades the skin, causing deformity.
