How is thyroid nodule ablation done?

Ablation of thyroid nodules is usually done by radiofrequency ablation or microwave ablation for the treatment of thyroid nodules. Ablation of thyroid nodules is an in situ, localized, precise treatment in which an ablation needle is inserted into the nodule under ultrasound guidance and the nodule is rendered inactive by physical heating, such as microwave heating or radiofrequency heating, to prevent the nodule from continuing to grow. The advantage of ablation of thyroid nodules is that it is a minimally invasive treatment with no scars on the body surface; the disadvantage is that the nodules remain palpable in the body and are absorbed and disappear over time.
