How long does it take to take a stool test sample

The time for stool test sampling is generally recommended to be controlled within 30-60 minutes and in principle should not exceed 2 hours, otherwise it will adversely affect the test results. As a routine test, stool tests can help doctors directly understand the pathology of the gastrointestinal tract, and indirectly play a role in diagnosing the functional status of the stomach, intestines, liver and other digestive system tissues. One of the most common stool tests is the fecal occult blood test, through which it can be used to diagnose a variety of diseases that cause bleeding in the gastrointestinal system, such as colorectal cancer, gastric cancer, and multiple intestinal polyps. Fecal microbiological tests, on the other hand, can be used to diagnose inflammatory diseases of the digestive system caused by bacterial infections, and can provide a definitive diagnosis of specific types of sensitive bacteria, such as acute gastroenteritis, adenoviral enteritis, ascariasis, etc. The subject should avoid mixing urine with stool when performing stool sampling and ensure that the sampled stool does not come into physical contact with the edge of the toilet to avoid contamination of the sample. After completing the sampling work, send the samples to the laboratory as soon as possible to avoid affecting the accuracy of the test results.
