1. 131I therapy is recommended for iodine-intake lesions that cannot be surgically removed. The maximum tolerated dose is 150 mCi.
2. For the treatment of pulmonary metastases, where the lesion is still iodine uptake and appears clinically effective, treatment is re-administered every 6 to 12 months. The recommended empirical treatment dose is 100-200 mCi, and for patients over 70 years of age the dose is 100-150 mCi.
3. For bone metastases, the dose is 100-200mCi.
4. For CNS metastases, surgery or stereotactic external radiotherapy is recommended as the first consideration.
