What are “snake sores”?

  Snake sores are called herpes zoster in modern medicine. It is common in the elderly.  This disease was first described in the “Treatise on the Origin of Diseases” of the Sui Dynasty (610 A.D.), “The sores are born around the waist, which are also born from wind and dampness fighting with blood, and look like a retort, hence the name.”  In the Ming dynasty, the “standard rules of evidence and treatment” was called fire with sores, waist-waist fire Dan, and in the Qing dynasty, the “Great Success of Surgery” was called snake sores.
