Liver cancer is a common tumor in China, and the annual number of deaths due to liver cancer is about 110,000, accounting for almost 45% of liver cancer deaths worldwide. Although there are many treatment methods for liver cancer, the treatment effect is not yet satisfactory. Surgery including peripheral vascular intervention is still the first choice in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma, but postoperative recurrence, metastasis, reduced patient fitness and low immune function are still the main problems that plague doctors and patients [4], and intrahepatic recurrence is likely to occur within 2 years after surgery, which is related to the possibility of multicenter growth of hepatocellular carcinoma and the background of hepatitis with carcinogenesis, and research shows that the longer the period of immune suppression, the slower the recovery. The longer the period of immune suppression, the slower the recovery, and the earlier the postoperative recurrence, the higher the recurrence rate. Among them, the 1-year recurrence rate was 65% in 40 patients who did not recover at 8 weeks after surgery, and the 1-year recurrence rate was only 2519% in 81 patients who recovered to normal, which was a very significant correlation. In addition, the local immune status also affects the development of tumor, and poor local immunity can contribute to the development of tumor. Therefore, paying attention to the improvement of immune function during the perioperative period can help reduce the metastasis and recurrence of liver cancer. The efficacy of Chinese medicine in the treatment of liver cancer has been confirmed. Currently, the commonly used herbal medicines for eliminating evil have different degrees of anti-cancer and anti-cancer effects, while those for supporting the root can prevent the occurrence and development of cancer, improve the immune function of the body, and enhance the effects of various treatments in western medicine. The treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma patients with Chinese herbal medicines for detoxification of heat and softening of hard nodes has been found to improve the local immune status of hepatocellular carcinoma patients. In the former formula, the herbal remedies include Baihua snake tongue herb as the ruler, mountain cichlid mushroom as the subject, ghost needle herb as the adjuvant, and bitter ginseng as the ambassador to strengthen each other’s detoxification; in the formula of Fu Zheng tumor suppressing formula, the herbal remedies include Huang Qi as the ruler, Lingzhi as the subject, Lizhen Zi as the adjuvant, and Shan Yao as the ambassador. The number of recurrences in the treatment group was found to be less than that in the control group in the review within 2 years after surgery, suggesting that the application of perioperative compound Chinese medicine has the effect of reducing the recurrence rate of hepatocellular carcinoma. We also summarized 42 cases, and our preliminary observations suggest that it is indeed helpful for surgical treatment. Our study confirmed that “Detoxification and Anti-Y Drink” and “Fuzheng and Tumor Suppression Formula” could improve the humoral immune function of patients, but had no effect on cellular immune function. In addition, the peripheral blood VEGF level of patients in the treatment group was significantly lower than that of the control group, which also helped to inhibit the metastasis of tumor after surgery. Chinese medicine believes that tumor patients mostly belong to the original deficiency and the actual symptoms. In terms of the etiology of tumors, the accumulation of evil toxins is very closely related to malignant tumors. For example, if the external poisonous evil is affected, the heat will be turned into heat over time; or the internal injury of the seven emotions, the fire will be turned into fire for a long time, and the fire and heat will breed poison in the body, which will lead to cancerous tumor over time. The weakness of spleen qi and deficiency of liver and kidney are the important internal causes of tumor development. Patients with malignant tumors have deficiencies in liver, spleen and kidney, deficiency of positive qi, and mixed symptoms of deficiency and reality. Preoperatively, actual evidence is the main cause, and postoperatively, deficiency of both qi and blood and deficiency of qi and yin are common. The weakness of positive qi and the inability to resist evil create the conditions for the recurrence or metastasis of tumor after surgery, and become an important cause of tumor recurrence and metastasis after surgery. Therefore, preoperative and postoperative Chinese medicine interventions in gastrointestinal tumors are the current development direction of Chinese medicine against cancer for consolidating the efficacy of surgery.
