Computer people beware of dry eye disease

With the increasing popularity of computers, the number of people suffering from computer dry eye disease is also on the rise. Many people who use computers for long periods of time often feel dry and astringent eyes, burning pain, easy fatigue, and long periods of redness and congestion in the eyes, all of which are likely to be symptoms of dry eye. These symptoms are likely to be manifested by dry eye. Dry eye is also known as dry conjunctival keratitis. Healthy eyes naturally secrete tears to lubricate the eyeball. The tear film is made up of a lipid layer, an aqueous layer and a mucus layer. The lipid layer has the effect of delaying the evaporation of the tear film, which decreases when the humidity is high and increases when it is dry. If the environment is dry, long-term use of air conditioning and excessive eye use will make the water in the eye evaporate faster and aggravate the tear loss, so that the cornea does not get wet, the whole eye is dry and lightless, and when looking at things, there is a situation of blurred vision, burning and foreign body sensation in the eyes, visual fatigue, grinding pain, etc. The main causes of dry eye syndrome are the decrease in tear quality due to physiological reasons such as advanced age, lack of sleep and mental stress; the evaporation of tears due to the environment such as the dryness of the room in which you live; the decrease in the number of blinks due to long hours of computer operation, car driving, reading and other fine work; and other causes such as wearing contact lenses, suffering from allergic conjunctivitis and other causes such as atmospheric pollution and UV radiation Tears decrease and quality decreases; certain medications such as paracetamol, insulin and birth control pills also have an effect on tears. The cause of computer-induced dry eye syndrome is closely related to the lack of blinking while using the computer. Because when people look at the fluorescent screen, the number of blinks will be invisibly reduced from 20 to 25 blinks per minute to 5 to 10, thus reducing the secretion of tears; at the same time, the eye is exposed to the air for a long time, so that the water evaporates too quickly, causing dry eyes and discomfort, and this will easily cause dry eyes in the long run. In addition, the computer fluorescent screen consists of small fluorescent dots, the eye must constantly adjust the focus to ensure clear vision, too much time, the eye muscle will be too fatigue. The electromagnetic waves, ultraviolet rays, radiation, blinding colors and infrared rays of the computer fluorescent screen can also stimulate the eyes, causing eye dryness, fatigue, double vision, blurred vision and even head and neck pain and other problems. Prevention of computer dry eye disease should pay attention to the following points: 1, avoid long continuous operation of the computer, pay attention to the intermediate rest, usually 1 hour of continuous operation, rest 5 to 10 minutes. When resting, you can look away or do eye exercises. Pay attention to frequent and complete blinking action by yourself, blinking often can reduce the time the eye is exposed to the air and avoid tear evaporation. 2. Maintain a good working posture. Maintain a most appropriate posture, so that both eyes flat or lightly downward looking at the fluorescent screen, which can make the neck muscles relaxed, and make the eye exposed to the air area is reduced to a minimum. 3, adjust the fluorescent screen distance position. The recommended distance is 50-70 cm distance, and the fluorescent screen should be slightly lower than the eye level position 10-20 cm, to make 15 degrees to 20 degrees of downward perspective. Because the angle and distance can reduce the need for refraction and reduce the chances of eye fatigue. 4.Create and maintain good working conditions. The light of the surrounding environment should be soft, desks, computer monitors placed in places not exposed to direct sunlight; the height of the table and chairs should match the height of the computer; avoid airflow blowing over the seat, and place tea near the seat to increase the humidity around. 5, the brightness of the computer fluorescent screen to be appropriate, adjust to half of the maximum brightness can be, to see the content clearly but slightly darker than the surrounding objects is appropriate, the clarity should be good. 6, if you would have less tear secretion, eyes prone to dryness, in front of the computer is not suitable for the use of contact lenses, to wear frame glasses. People who wear contact lenses in front of the computer, it is also best to use varieties with a high degree of oxygen permeability. 7, people over 40 years old, it is best to use bifocal lenses, or when typing, wear glasses with a lower degree. 8, If there is redness in the eyes, burning or foreign body sensation, heavy eyelids, blurred vision, or even eye swelling or headache, and no significant improvement after rest, then it is necessary to go to the hospital for medical attention. In addition, patients with dry eyes should eat more fruits, especially citrus fruits, and should also eat more green vegetables, grains, fish and eggs. Drinking more water will also help to reduce dry eyes. Pay attention to mental relaxation during the day. Some computer operators often frequently use eye drops, which is actually unscientific. Eye drops should not be used indiscriminately, especially those containing antibiotics or hormones, and some of them may even aggravate the symptoms of dry eyes. Doctors recommend the appropriate use of artificial tear products to reduce and eliminate eye discomfort. Generally speaking, people with dry eyes should preferably use hard, highly breathable contact lenses. Because the lens material does not contain water, it will not absorb the natural tears in the eye and worsen the symptoms of dry eyes. If you choose soft contact lenses, choose lenses that have a high water content and oxygen permeability. It is important to know that not every disposable soft contact lens is made of the same material. Eyes with dry eye are usually more sensitive and you should take a little time to try out more lenses from different brands.
