Nowadays, many parents have two questions about hemangioma: 1. whether it should be treated or not; 2. if it needs to be treated, which treatment plan is the best to choose. In the treatment, parents always worry that their children are small, whether these treatments will affect their children in the future or they can’t bear to see their children’s pain in the treatment. The following is a simple and easy-to-understand introduction to the treatment of hemangioma. The first question: Should we treat it or not? 1.First of all, it is emphasized that hemangioma is a kind of benign tumor. If there is no obvious growth before the age of 1 year, and if it does not grow in the part that affects the aesthetics or function of the child, it can be left untreated, and attention can be paid to the observation. Seventy to eighty percent of the patients can subside on their own when they are 5-7 years old. The second problem: the choice of treatment program 1, nevus erythematosus: generally choose 585/1064nm dual-wavelength laser treatment, can only say that the treatment has the effect, but can not be completely eradicated, this is the current international problems. If the lesion area is large, you can choose topical timolol maleate and oral propranolol hydrochloride for treatment. 2.Simple hemangioma: local ultrasound examination of hemangioma before treatment, to clarify the depth of subcutaneous hemangioma. If there are still hemangiomas under the skin, then treat them according to cavernous hemangioma. If there are still hemangiomas under the skin, the treatment will be based on cavernous hemangioma. If the hemangiomas are small in area and thin in thickness in the forearm, abdomen, back, limbs (except hands and feet), the patients can choose dual-wavelength laser or freezing treatment. Both of these methods have obvious pain and localized blisters after treatment, which need to pay attention to the child’s care to avoid infection, and usually need 3-5 times of treatment. If in the head and face, hands and feet, vulva or skin folds, it is difficult to take care of after choosing laser or cryotherapy or there is a possibility of scarring affecting aesthetics; if the area of hemangiomas is large or thick; in these two cases, you can choose to take oral medication propranolol hydrochloride and topical timolol maleate eye drops. If the lesion area is small but thicker, it cannot accept or take medicine, and can be treated by surgery. 3.Cavernous hemangioma: laser or freezing has no effect on this type. If the skin lesions are small and do not affect the beauty of the part, surgical treatment can be chosen; if it is difficult to operate in the part or the skin lesions are large, oral propranolol can be chosen.
