Symptoms of gout in the fingers

  Gout is a crystal arthritis caused by disorders of purine metabolism and reduced uric acid excretion, which can cause severe joint pain. Redness, swelling and pain are the main manifestations of an acute attack of gout in the finger joints, and as the disease progresses gout stones may also appear locally in the finger joints.  In an acute attack of gout in the finger joints, the patient first feels redness, swelling and pain in the finger joints, and the fingers become stiff and swollen, making it difficult to perform activities such as flexion and extension. Acute attacks of gout in the finger joints are also self-limiting. Even without the use of medication, the swelling and pain in the joints may resolve on their own within a few days or two weeks, or even disappear. However, if the condition is not well controlled, acute gout attacks in the finger joints may occur frequently and gradually swollen gout stones may appear. Localized gout stones in the finger joints can erode the bone surface of the joints and cause breakage of the bone surface, and the swelling and pain in the finger joints are persistent and difficult to relieve.  Therefore, when the finger joints appear red, swollen, hot and painful symptoms, you should be highly alert to the gout caused by the need to go to the hospital to do relevant tests to confirm the diagnosis, timely treatment after diagnosis, usually pay more attention to diet and rest.
