Is artificial insemination painful for the woman?

Artificial insemination is generally painless for the woman, as the insemination is simply a manual method of placing the male sperm inside the woman’s uterine cavity, and the whole process is almost painless, with only uncomfortable sensations that women can usually tolerate. Nowadays, there are more and more people who are infertile, and artificial insemination is a very good way to help conceive, mainly by injecting the male sperm into the woman’s body in a non-coital way. The technique is now very mature and involves washing the woman’s vulva, vagina and cervix with saline during ovulation, then using a disposable catheter to reach into the woman’s uterine cavity and slowly injecting the semen at a distance of only 1cm from the base of the uterus, before gently removing the catheter, usually without causing pain. However, the woman needs to elevate her hips during this procedure to prevent the semen from escaping. After the IUI procedure, the woman needs to rest for a while and can get up and move around after half an hour. Women who have been inseminated do not need to rest in bed as much as women with normal pregnancies.
