How to determine Internet addiction?

  Some people call the Internet the fourth media after newspaper, radio and television. The emergence of the Internet brings convenience to people’s work, study and life, but at the same time, because a small number of people cannot use it reasonably and scientifically, it also brings some “side effects” – Internet addiction. Internet addiction refers to a chronic or periodic state of obsession caused by repeated use of the Internet and an irresistible desire to use it again; it can also lead to increased use time. The most direct consequence of Internet addiction is a severe lack of sleep; they tend to have insomnia – wake up early, and the first thing they do when they wake up is to go online. According to the survey, 54% of Internet addicts have a history of depression, 34% have a history of anxiety, and less than 10% are in the high-tech industry.  Internet addiction is generally divided into: ① Internet pornography addiction, which refers to addiction to chat rooms with adult topics and online pornographic literature; ② Internet relationship addiction, which refers to addiction to making friends through online chat rooms or pornographic websites; ③ Internet compulsive behavior, which refers to an uncontrollable urge to be addicted to online gambling, online trading or auctions, shopping, etc.; ④ Information overload, which refers to compulsive web browsing to find and collect ⑤ Computer addiction refers to compulsive addiction to computer games or programming.  According to the survey, the personality characteristics of Internet addicts include: preferring to be alone, sensitivity, tendency to think abstractly, vigilance, and disobedience to social norms. Internet addiction can be very damaging to physical and mental health, causing loss of vision, shoulder and back pain, headaches and loss of appetite.  The following is a self-assessment scale for Internet addiction (7 out of the following 12 items can be diagnosed as Internet): 1.Increase the time spent on the Internet one by one to get satisfaction; 2.Often cannot resist the temptation to go online and it is hard to get off the Internet; 3.It is hard to forget the web pages you visited and the content of the chat when you get off the Internet; 4.It is sad when you do not go online and try to find opportunities to go online; 5.Stop using 6. The time spent on the Internet is actually longer than the scheduled time; 7. The important recreational activities and interpersonal contacts are given up or reduced in order to go online; 8. 10.Use the Internet as a way to escape from problems and relieve negative emotions; 11.Always think that the time spent on the Internet is not enough to meet the requirements; 12.Long-term hope or efforts to reduce the time spent on the Internet, but without success.
