Intrahepatic hemangioma, or hepatic hemangioma, is the most common benign tumor of the liver. The treatments include follow-up observation and surgery, etc. Professional doctors will strictly grasp the indications and choose the appropriate treatment plan according to the patient’s condition.
1. Follow-up observation: For patients with hepatic hemangioma without risk factors (such as complications, progressive enlargement, unknown diagnosis, etc.), no matter the diameter and location of the tumor, in principle, follow-up observation is the main focus. For intrahepatic hemangiomas <5cm in diameter, follow-up observation is the mainstay.
2. Surgical treatment is feasible for those who fulfill the following conditions:
The diameter is three to five centimeters, though small, with obvious symptoms or liver cancer cannot be ruled out; the diameter is five to ten centimeters, but located at the edge of the liver, with the possibility of traumatic rupture, which may cause hemorrhage; the tumor diameter is larger than ten centimeters.
Surgical options include partial hepatectomy, segmental hepatectomy, and liver transplantation.
For patients diagnosed with hepatic hemangioma, they should go to a regular hospital department to avoid delays.
