Can cervical cancer recur after total excision?

Cervical cancer is a common malignant tumor in gynecology, which is very harmful to women’s health and life. However, cervical cancer has the possibility of recurrence no matter which treatment method is used, and even total hysterectomy does not exclude the possibility of recurrence, only that the possibility of recurrence varies greatly among individuals. Some patients who have undergone total hysterectomy have better health conditions and have done well in post-operative adjuvant treatment, so the possibility of recurrence is relatively low. Some patients with poor health condition and poor mentality will have a higher chance of recurrence. Surgical treatment of cervical cancer will be more thorough than other treatment methods, but even if the cancer cells have not metastasized, it may still recur in the pelvic cavity, so patients must be reviewed regularly, after surgery. For cervical cancer patients treated by total hysterectomy, if there is no recurrence 5 years after surgery, then the possibility of recurrence is not very high. After total hysterectomy for cervical cancer, some of them need to do radiotherapy, chemotherapy or biological therapy together, so as to prevent cervical cancer recurrence well. Patients after cervical cancer surgical excision should also maintain a good state of mind, strengthen physical exercise appropriately and keep a regular work and rest schedule, which can, to a certain extent, effectively prevent the recurrence of cervical cancer.
