How long is the rabies vaccine valid for?

After the regular 5 or 4 doses of rabies vaccine, the human body generally has rabies antibodies at a concentration higher than 0.5 U/mL for 1 year to resist the rabies virus. As long as the body has rabies antibodies at a concentration higher than 0.5 U/mL, it is sufficient to protect the body from rabies virus infection. Within one year after receiving the rabies vaccine, the body has sufficient titers to resist the rabies virus, and there is no need to revaccinate even after a dog bite. If you are bitten again, you will only need 1-2 booster shots of rabies vaccine according to the most conservative protocol. A booster dose of 1-2 shots after 1 year of basic immunization will provide effective protection for at least 3 years with antibody titers exceeding 20 U/ml. Within 24 hours after a dog bite, it is recommended that the patient go to a regular hospital or epidemic prevention station for rabies vaccination and wound treatment.
