Stenosis refers to narrowing of the arterial blood vessels. Depending on the location and severity of the stenosis, the basic treatment includes lifestyle modification, medication and surgery. Arterial stenosis is a condition in which atherosclerosis, trauma, or other congenital factors cause thickening of the vessel wall and narrowing of the vessel lumen, resulting in ischemia of the organs or tissues innervated by the vessel. Stenosis may be systemic or localized. Treatment methods are as follows: 1. Lifestyle adjustment: Quit smoking, low salt and low fat diet, and appropriate exercise. 2.Medication: If there is no contraindication to the need for long-term adherence to medication, medication can slow down the progress of stenosis and reduce the patient’s symptoms. 3.Surgical or interventional methods: For severe stenosis, the most commonly used treatment is interventional therapy, which is less invasive and passes through the body surface of the human body without an incision, directly puncturing into the lumen to open up the stenosed blood vessel, and then using a balloon to widen it or even putting in a stent to reopen the occluded vessel and promote the blood supply to the distal end. Secondly, open bypass surgery, but open surgery is now carried out less and less, if the intervention cannot be completed, surgical bypass is still very necessary. Interventional and surgical treatment is the main treatment for vascular stenosis, but lifestyle modification, especially smoking cessation, is also very important.
