“Why is it that only bags can be reproduced, but not hymens? I want to get myself another hymen too! Today we’re going to talk about hymen repair. Before we get into the repair surgery, let’s start with a proper and scientific understanding of the hymen.
What is a hymen?
When it comes to the hymen, many people have an impression of it from the TV series “Redness”, which was used by the ancients to test the “chastity” of a woman. In fact, the hymen, which is considered by many men and women as their “life”, is often not the same as what people think. To be precise, the hymen is not a membrane!
The hymen is a ring-shaped, semi-enclosed fold of film that covers the periphery of the vaginal opening and is composed of microvessels, nerve endings and connective tissue. It has a hole in the center, and the shape of the hole is half-moon, round hole, oval, sieve, etc. It is about 1-2 mm thick.
Some women have good hymen and large pores, so even if they have a history of sex, they can still be intact, so “seeing red on the first night” is also a chance event; while some women have thinner hymens and poor toughness, plus different shapes, which may rupture during more strenuous exercise such as running, jumping, trauma, etc., and the difference in appearance caused by the rupture is also small. Therefore it is not possible to verify whether a woman has had sex based on whether her hymen is broken or not!
What is hymenoplasty?
Although society has changed in today’s world, there are still many men who are virgins, and there are even a small number of men who want to marry virgins. It is the poison of these traditional ideas that lead to hymenoplasty!
The so-called hymenoplasty is the surgical method to restore the damaged hymen or recreate a new hymen.
1. Pre-operative preparation.
(1) Before surgery, the doctor will perform a gynecological examination for the patient to determine if the hymen is ruptured. If the patient has problems such as vaginitis or vulvodynia, abnormal leucorrhea, etc., the necessary treatment should be carried out first and the surgery can only be performed after it is cured.
(2) The doctor will examine the degree of hymen rupture to determine the specific procedure.
(3) The doctor should carefully understand the patient’s psychological situation and introduce to the patient the basic situation of hymenoplasty, its characteristics and possible discomfort during surgery to eliminate the patient’s nervousness.
(4) Prepare the instruments, disinfection supplies, etc. needed for the surgery before surgery, without shaving.
(5) Empty the bladder before surgery, take the bladder truncated position, and assist the surgeon in posing the body.
2. Best time for surgery.
Hymen repair surgery should avoid the menstrual period, the surgery is generally scheduled 3 days after the menstrual net to 10 days before the menstrual period is better, 3 days before surgery can be used 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution sitz bath once a day, 1 week before surgery to prohibit sexual intercourse. In addition, the hymenoplasty cannot be arranged during pregnancy.
3, post-operative attention.
(1) The hymen repair surgery needs to be routinely taken some antibiotics within 1 week after the surgery, wash the perineum with clean warm water every day, you can take a shower to keep the local clean.
(2) Disinfection water should be used to disinfect the wound for a week, and 1:5000 potassium permanganate powder solution can be used to clean the vulva in a daily sitz bath to prevent infection.
(3) Half a month after hymen repair surgery should try to avoid squatting, forceful bowel movements, the best use of sitting or semi-squatting position when going to the toilet, when getting on and off the bus, train, legs should not be too far apart.
(4) You should eat more fruits after surgery to avoid constipation.
(5) Don’t do bicycle riding, intense sports, etc. for 1 month after hymenoplasty, and forbid all activities that increase the tension of the perineum.
(6) 1 month after hymenoplasty surgery should be reviewed in the hospital, and the first time after surgery if the menstrual flow is not smooth, you should always come to the hospital for a follow-up, and come to the hospital for a review after the menstruation is clean, to ensure the results of the surgery. In addition, it is recommended to start sexual life only 1 month after surgery.
(7) The repaired hymen will recover after 1-2 months, and there will still be painful rupture and bleeding when “snapping”. If you want to have the hymen repaired before marriage, it is better to have it done 3 months before marriage and then to take good care of it.
Although hymenoplasty is a relatively simple plastic surgery, because of its physiological, psychological and social peculiarities, when performing this surgery, if the preoperative preparation is not sufficient, the operation is wrong, the postoperative care is improper or the psychological analysis and care is neglected, and the patient’s privacy is not protected, certain complications can still occur, affecting the postoperative results and even leaving the patient with serious physical and mental trauma. Finally, I would like to give a warning to all women, if the hymen repair is only to protect the relationship, will this relationship be as fragile as this membrane?
