Appendicitis is not necessarily just right lower abdominal pain!

Most people feel that appendicitis is not a big deal, but appendicitis can have many terrible consequences if treatment is delayed, so we need to feel it in the first place. Early appendicitis may be misdiagnosed as common gastroenteritis, and there are no clear signs even before the right lower abdominal pain is felt, and some special patients even have separate symptoms and signs, so we cannot take the presence or absence of the sign “right lower abdominal pain” as a reliable basis for diagnosis. Case: A few days ago, Xiao Liu suddenly felt abdominal pain, accompanied by mild nausea, fatigue and other discomforts, as well as symptoms such as unformed stools and increased frequency of bowel movements. Xiao Liu thought she had eaten something unclean and had acute gastroenteritis, so she took a few stomach pills and antidiarrheal pills that she always had at home. But her symptoms were not relieved and her body temperature started to rise instead. Accompanied by her family, Xiao Liu rushed to the hospital for medical attention. After careful examination, the doctor suspected that she had acute appendicitis. But Xiao Liu said she did not feel pain in her lower right abdomen, but only when the doctor pressed it just now. The doctor prescribed an ultrasound examination of her appendix, and the results confirmed the doctor’s diagnosis. The appendix is in the lower right abdomen of the body, so people tend to think that appendiceal lesions should cause pain in the lower right abdomen. However, the appendix belongs to the internal organs of the body, and the pain sensation in the internal organs is vague and often involves pain. For example, acute cholecystitis often has right-sided shoulder and back pain in addition to right upper abdominal pain, while duodenal ulcer and esophagitis can also cause pain in the area between the two scapulae in the back. The pain of acute appendicitis is often manifested as metastatic right lower abdominal pain, which means that in the early stages of the disease, the pain often manifests in the upper abdomen, but also in the right upper abdomen, around the navel, etc., and only gradually appears in the right lower abdomen as the disease progresses. Danger signs of appendicitis I. Abdominal pain When you have abdominal pain, you must be alert to the early symptoms of appendicitis, but there are many causes of abdominal pain, and this alone cannot determine that it is appendicitis. Second, pressure pain in the right lower abdomen In abdominal pain caused by appendicitis, there will be a fixed pressure pain in the right lower abdomen, roughly at the umbilicus and the right anterior superior iliac spine to the outer third. Of course, the location varies from person to person, from body type to body type, or from appendix to appendix, but it is also within the right lower abdomen. Fever If you have acute inflammation, you may also have fever and gastrointestinal symptoms, so you should pay extra attention to these conditions. Gastrointestinal symptoms Some patients may also have gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea and vomiting, or even diarrhea. If you want to determine whether it is acute appendicitis, do an ultrasound or CT examination, or if you want to determine whether it is chronic appendicitis, you can do a barium enema. Although it is a small appendicitis in your mouth, it may present these dangerous symptoms in its early stages, and if you ignore them, it may cause complications of appendicitis that can be dangerous. It is also important to remind you that if you have appendicitis in the elderly and children, it is important to seek prompt medical attention.
