Can ultrasound detect adrenal tumors?

Tumors of adrenal gland cannot be detected by color ultrasound in physical examination. A thin layer CT scan of the adrenal region is needed to clarify the specific lesion, because the adrenal gland is located very high, the volume of the adrenal gland is relatively small, surrounded by large blood vessels in the body, diaphragm and the upper pole of the kidney, and there exists more fat in the periphery, the tissue resolution is relatively small, unless the tumor is relatively large in volume, to deliberately do ultrasound It is possible to detect adrenal tumors >2cm only when examining the adrenal glands. Therefore, it is recommended to routinely use adrenal thin-layer CT scan for adrenal tumors, and not to prefer ultrasound to check adrenal tumors. For adrenal tumors, further blood tests are needed to find out whether there is abnormal hormone secretion function in adrenal tumors, such as catecholamines and cortisol.
