Does laparoscopy work well in pediatric urology

Laparoscopy has been gradually used in the field of pediatric urology since the 1990s. Laparoscopy is characterized by small surgical trauma, wide surgical field, early postoperative recovery, beautiful wounds, and short hospitalization days. Laparoscopic surgery has been used for (1) laparoscopic exploration and descending fixation of untouched cryptorchid; (2) exploratory biopsy of gonadal malformations of both sexes; (3) laparoscopic removal of polycystic kidney dysplasia (polycystic kidney dysplasia) and hypoplastic small kidney; (4) removal of adrenal tumor; (5) removal of prostate capsule; (6) high ligation of varicocele, etc., and laparoscopic treatment of the above series of diseases is routine. At present, we also selectively perform posterior laparoscopic pyeloplasty and hemianephrectomy of heavy kidney. With the improvement of equipment, robot and robotic technology level, the application of laparoscopy will be more widespread, with less postoperative pain and higher quality of life for the patients.
