What does gout mean?

Gout is hyperuricemia, recurrent acute gouty arthritis that involves the kidneys and leads to uric acid nephropathy, that is, chronic interstitial nephritis, and the formation of uric acid stones and gout stones in the urinary system, which can manifest as joint deformity and dysfunction and renal insufficiency in severe cases. The vast majority of patients with gout present in the joints of the lower extremities, such as the first metatarsophalangeal joint and ankle joint of the foot, or in the ends of the upper extremities, such as the wrist and metacarpophalangeal joints of the hand, with localized redness, swelling, pain, increased skin temperature and restricted movement in the area of the attack.
