What is intestinal perforation

Intestinal perforation, as the name implies, is a perforation of the intestine, usually of the small intestine and colon. The most common cause of intestinal perforation is blunt force trauma, but it can also be caused by tumors, intestinal obstruction, etc. Intestinal perforation is a relatively common surgical condition that can manifest as acute abdominal pain, abdominal distension, which can manifest as total abdominal pain, and a history of trauma or tumor, in patients with intestinal obstruction. Patients with intestinal perforation may be complicated by infection which is a more common complication for patients with intestinal perforation. Of course, if the intestinal perforation is caused by a tumor or intestinal obstruction, in this case, there is generally no surgical value and there is really no special method in clinical practice. Intestinal perforation belongs to the general surgical aspect of the disease. In daily life, if you encounter patients with abdominal pain from trauma, you must seek medical attention in a timely manner, as the intestine is prone to rupture under gravitational impact. Therefore, patients with abdominal pain after trauma should seek medical attention in a timely manner to avoid delaying the condition.
