As women age, menopause appears, but men also have LOH, which is often referred to as “male menopause syndrome”. As China’s aging process accelerates, the health of middle-aged and elderly men is becoming more and more concerned, according to domestic statistics, the incidence of LOH in men aged 40-70 is about 35%, which not only affects the quality of life, but also brings adverse effects on the function of various organs and systems. Poor concentration, memory loss, agitation, apathy, decreased physical performance as well as obesity, hypertension, and osteoporosis. The diagnosis of LOH is determined by the evaluation of symptoms, the measurement of serum testosterone and the response to experimental testosterone supplementation. General tests include blood pressure, body mass index, external genitalia, liver and kidney function, blood glucose, lipids, PSA, prostate ultrasound, and serum sex hormones. Because LOH is a syndrome that can cause significant adverse effects on the bones, muscles, emotional cognition, sexual function, and even cardiovascular disease, prompt medical attention is needed if symptoms develop with age.
