Treatment of diabetic foot orthopedics recommended to go to the endocrinology department, endocrinology does not accept how to

The patient’s mother had a fractured toe that was infected and not healing, and then the toe became black with a foul odor and swelling. At that time, they went to the orthopedic department to find the original primary care doctor, and they suggested going to the endocrinology department. However, when they arrived at the endocrinology department, the doctor would not accept them. Now the patient has a little fever and asked us to help her. In fact, this phenomenon is really common because diabetic foot itself is a condition that crosses several disciplinary fields. Although it is a complication caused by diabetes, and although it eventually started due to a fracture, her case involves treatment in various aspects, in addition to orthopedics, endocrinology, and, according to the understanding of the patient’s physical condition, cardiology, vascular medicine, and other departments. There are really too many similar cases like the above. Although we all have diabetes and are diabetic complications, they are often not admitted to the endocrinology department, because even if they are admitted, they are not treated well and are recommended to be transferred to other hospitals, but they do not tell you exactly how to choose the hospital and what methods to use, so they push people out. But these we can not put the blame on the doctor, if the disease can be cured which doctor is not willing to give patients treatment? It is important for us to understand the diabetic foot, and after knowing it, I believe we will know what must be included in an effective treatment. The reason why I always advocate the establishment of specialized centers, especially multidisciplinary centers, is that the treatment of the diabetic foot requires the treatment of different disciplines, each of which is crucial to the diabetic foot. Most diabetic foot patients are not affected by diabetes for a day or two, and are often older, have more combined problems, have various organs affected, have cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, are anemic, etc., all of which require targeted treatment plans to be developed. Therefore, if you encounter a situation where you are transferred between different departments again, and only one doctor is treating the patient, you must be vigilant and transfer to a local diabetic foot specialist or center as soon as possible to avoid similar encounters that delay the patient’s treatment and end up with a result that no one wants to see.
