What to do if you find a thyroid nodule

Thyroid nodules are common, with a prevalence of 76% according to statistics. There is no need to panic after finding a thyroid nodule, as most nodules are benign and about 5-15% are malignant, so you still need to be vigilant. The following treatments are available: 1. Ultrasound of the thyroid gland. 2. 2.Laboratory tests for serum thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). 3. For nodules larger than 1 cm with reduced TSH, nuclear imaging is required to determine the function of the nodule. 4.For nodules that tend to be benign, please review them after 6-12 months, and for those that tend to be malignant, the follow-up period needs to be shortened. 5. For nodules that increase in size by more than 50% on follow-up, puncture biopsy is recommended. 6.The management of thyroid nodules in children is the same as that of adult disease.
