Right intrahepatic bile duct stones or calcified foci are a type of intrahepatic bile duct stones. Intrahepatic bile duct stones are classified into common hepatic duct, right hepatic duct, and left hepatic duct according to the site of the stone. When the stone is located in the right hepatic duct, it is usually called right hepatic duct stone. Calcified foci in the right hepatic duct are found to be strongly echogenic due to early cholesterol stones, i.e. cholesterol crystals attached to the bile duct wall, which are found on ultrasound examination. The ultrasound showed heterogeneous echogenic enhancement with hyperechoic areas, which were early very small stones, while on the ultrasound report, it was suggestive of calcified foci and calcified spots. So bile duct stones and calcified spots are just different periods of stones.
