What should I look for in a cervical smear?

With the improvement of people’s knowledge, more and more women are taking the initiative to undergo cervical smear; however, it is easy to over-diagnose and over-treat due to inattention to the timing of the smear. First of all, one should avoid the period before and after menstruation, when menstruation is about to come or not completely clean, and endometrial cells can easily appear in the shed cells, and endometrium appears in the cervical smear of women over 40 years old, which requires diagnostic scraping; vaginal medication and sexual life should be stopped 2-3 days before the examination; do not do the examination when inflammation is not cured, otherwise false-positive results are likely to occur; do not do the smear when there is excessive bleeding; smear Gently wipe away cervical surface secretions, otherwise the diagnosis of moderate and severe inflammation will easily appear in the cytology report and be over-treated; pay attention to the cells of the cervical canal, squamous epithelium and squamocolumnar junction area when taking the smear. If the cytology result is abnormal, colposcopy is recommended and immediate rechecking of the cervical smear is not advocated; immediate rechecking of the cervical smear is meaningless and prone to false positives; if cervical cytology must be rechecked for a short time, it should be done after 3-4 months because cervical cell repair takes 3 months.
