Is mesenchymal stromal tumor a cancer? Is this disease serious?

Mesenchymal tumors are classified as benign or malignant and therefore are not necessarily cancerous. If it is a benign mesenchymal tumor, it is usually not serious. Malignant mesenchymal tumors are relatively serious. Mesenchymal tumors generally refer to gastrointestinal mesenchymal tumors, which are benign and malignant, and therefore may not necessarily be cancerous. The cause of mesenchymal stromal tumor is not yet clear, and it may be related to gene mutation. Patients may experience symptoms such as early satiety, difficulty in swallowing, abdominal distension, nausea, and vomiting. If it is a benign mesenchymal tumor, it is relatively not serious, and most of them can be completely removed through surgical treatment, such as open surgery and laparoscopic surgery, with a better prognosis. However, if it is malignant mesenchymal tumor, it is generally incurable. Timely surgical resection in the early stage of the disease may achieve clinical cure, and post-operative radiotherapy is needed to enhance the efficacy. However, if it develops to the middle or late stage of the disease, with distant metastasis, it cannot be cured and the situation is more serious. If the examination found mesenchymal stromal tumor, it is recommended that the patient cooperate with the doctor for treatment in time to avoid delaying the condition.
