What are the precautions after kidney cancer surgery

Regular review is necessary after kidney cancer surgery. The main purpose of follow-up examination is to check whether there are recurrence, metastasis and new tumors. 2. It is for post-operative renal function protection and examination. Since most patients have one kidney left after kidney cancer surgery, more attention should be paid to this kidney, so that problems can be detected and treated in time. Postoperative follow-up is divided into several stages: 1. 1 week after surgery: mainly ask about the general condition after discharge; check the wound healing; inform the postoperative pathological results and prognosis; discuss further adjuvant treatment; for patients with medical insurance, they need to do major medical insurance; if the wound is dry and there is no special discomfort, family members can visit the doctor on their behalf during this follow-up. 2.4~6 weeks after surgery: mainly assess the kidney function, recovery status after blood loss and any surgical complications. For patients with partial nephrectomy, a renal CT scan will be performed 4~6 weeks after surgery to understand the morphological changes of the kidney and to make a comparison for future review. 3.Long-term follow-up plan: Early stage kidney cancer: follow-up every 3-6 months for 3 years, and annual follow-up afterwards. Intermediate and advanced renal cancer: follow-up every 3 months for 2 years, every 6 months in the third year, and annually thereafter. 3.Contents of postoperative follow-up Routine follow-up includes: (1) Medical history inquiry. (2) Physical examination. (3) Routine blood and blood biochemical examination: liver and kidney function and blood biochemical indexes of abnormal preoperative examination, blood sedimentation, C-reactive protein, blood calcium, etc. (4) Chest X-ray. Patients with abnormal chest X-ray examination are recommended to undergo chest CT scan examination or choose chest CT examination directly. (5) Abdominal ultrasound examination. Patients with abnormalities found in abdominal ultrasound examination, kidney preservation surgery and patients with mid- to late-stage renal cancer after surgery need to perform abdominal CT scan examination, which can be performed once every 6 months for 2 years, and later depending on the specific situation. 4.Post-operative treatment plan: It is mainly based on the pathological stage of kidney tumor. At present, among the effective treatments for kidney cancer considered at home and abroad, surgery is the main treatment, supplemented by immunotherapy, and some patients can be treated with adjuvant Chinese medicine, but traditional radiotherapy is not sensitive to kidney cancer patients. Therefore, after kidney cancer surgery, if patients have conditions, they can supplement immunotherapy to improve their immunity; the specific treatment plan of TCM treatment can be consulted with the TCM oncology department of public hospitals, and do not listen to the boasts and advertisements of personnel from non-medical institutions. 5. It is also very important to maintain a positive and optimistic attitude and healthy living habits.
