The occurrence of cysts in the lumbar region in patients is one of the more common conditions in lumbar spine pathology. If a patient develops a lumbar cyst growing outside the spinal canal, feels pain in the lumbar region, has positive local pressure pain, and has normal lumbar spine activity, conservative treatment can be taken by instructing the patient to reduce lumbar activity and rest in bed. In the lumbar spine area, acupuncture, moxibustion or herbal fumigation can be performed, and small acupuncture knives can also be used to pry and loosen the cyst, or in combination with acupuncture and other treatments. In the lumbar spine area, topical ointment can be applied to activate blood circulation and remove blood stasis and disperse nodules, and the patient is also instructed to take blood activating drugs orally to promote the absorption of cysts. If the cyst grows in the spinal canal and compresses the dural sac, and the patient develops neurological symptoms, such as decreased sensation and tingling in the skin of the lower extremities, surgical treatment is required, and the cyst can be removed by incision.
