Why do I get pimples?

Acne, commonly known as “pimples”, is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that mainly affects the sebaceous units of the facial follicles. Although it is also called “youthful beautiful pimples”, it is a cosmetic skin disease that often leaves behind erythema, hyperpigmentation and scar formation, which is related to the severity of acne, individual differences or improper treatment, thus resulting in youthful but not beautiful. Its pathogenesis remains unclear, mainly involving hormone-induced lipid overproduction in a genetic background, abnormal keratinization of follicular sebaceous ducts, proliferation of Propionibacterium acnes and other bacteria, and inflammatory and immune responses. It is clinically classified into three degrees: mild (only acne), moderate (with inflammatory papules, pustules), and severe (appearance of cysts, nodules). The treatment of acne should be based on its clinical manifestations and should fully reflect the principle of individualized treatment. Topical medication is the foundation of acne. It is difficult for any one acne treatment to fully and effectively cover all aspects of acne pathogenesis, and the combination of multiple treatment methods is crucial. The combination of topical medications can be used for mild to moderate acne. Topical medications alone usually only work on one to two parts of the acne pathogenesis, while the combination can increase the number of parts to two to three. etc. Chinese herbal medicine also plays a significant role in the treatment of acne. Maintenance treatment can reduce and prevent acne recurrence and is an important component of the overall acne treatment. Acne is a chronic and recurring disease, and health education, scientific skin care and regular follow-up visits should be integrated throughout the treatment of acne. 1. Limit the intake of high sugar and fatty diets and dairy products, especially skimmed milk, and help prevent and improve acne with proper weight control, regular work and rest, and avoiding late nights and excessive sun exposure. 2. Scientific skin care: Use oil-control and moisturizing cleansers to cleanse the face, but do not over-clean, and avoid squeezing and scratching. After cleansing, choose the appropriate skin care products to use according to the patient’s skin type. In addition, use or choose cosmetics such as foundation, isolation, sunscreen and color cosmetics with caution. 3. Avoid irregular treatment (such as the so-called lymphatic detoxification, etc.) and excessive treatment (the pursuit of root removal, etc.).
