Non-gonococcal urethritis (NGU) is a collective term for sexually transmitted urethritis caused by pathogens other than gonorrhea. Non-gonorrheal urethritis is the most common type of sexually transmitted disease in clinical practice. It is a serious risk to human health. Non-gonorrheal urethritis is a type of disease in which urethritis is present, but gonococcus cannot be detected in urethral discharge. It is mainly caused by Chlamydia and Mycoplasma and is transmitted through sexual intercourse, invading the urogenital tract organs. So far, the incidence of this disease has surpassed that of gonorrhea in Western countries, ranking first among sexually transmitted diseases. Although the symptoms are mild, many patients lose the best time for treatment, which makes treatment very difficult, and the symptoms of the disease are extremely mild especially in women, who often do not treat the infection due to mild symptoms, increasing the chances of spreading the disease. In addition to causing urethritis, more than half of women have comorbidities such as endometritis, tubitis, ectopic pregnancy, infertility and miscarriage. At the beginning of the disease, there is painful urination, urethral discomfort, urethral itching, burning or stinging sensation, urethral redness and swelling, urethral discharge, thinning, etc. As the disease progresses, the above symptoms will gradually worsen. Improper treatment or untimely treatment will cause recurrence of the disease and lead to premature ejaculation, acute epididymitis, prostatitis and other diseases, or directly lead to male infertility. Laboratory tests for NGU mainly refer to pathogenic and serological tests for Chlamydia trachomatis and Mycoplasma decidua. After the diagnosis of NGU is confirmed, broad-spectrum antibiotic therapy is used, and the emphasis is on continuous and uninterrupted medication, with regular, quantitative and thorough treatment. After treatment 10-20 days recheck again are negative, and with clinical symptoms disappeared as a cure. The course of treatment required in the treatment of this disease is long.
