Western medical treatment
For initial NGU cases, doxycycline 0.1g, 2 times/day; or azithromycin 1.0g, once in a single dose on an empty stomach; or erythromycin 0.5g, erythromycin 0.25g, 4 times/day; or ofloxacin 0.3g, minocycline 0.1g, 2 times/day, for 7-10 days. For recurrent or persistent NGU with unsatisfactory clinical treatment, metronidazole 0.2g, single dose, plus erythromycin or erythromycin, 7 days therapy. For NGU in pregnant women, doxycycline and ofloxacin are contraindicated and erythromycin or erythromycin amber for 7 days is recommended; or azithromycin in a single dose.
Chinese medicine treatment
(A) Identification and treatment
1.Dampness and heat blocking evidence
Symptoms Stinging and pain in the urethra, slight redness and swelling of the urethral orifice, thin mucus-like secretion, poor urination; also see lower abdominal fullness and discomfort, dry mouth; red tongue, thin yellowish greasy coating, moist or slippery pulse.
Treatment Clearing heat and dampness, resolving turbidity and promoting drenching.
Cheng’s Dioscorea Z Fenqing Drink or Bazheng San plus or minus.
2.Liver meridian stagnation evidence
Symptoms Stinging and pain in the urethra, pain or discomfort in the pubic area, perineum, lumbosacral region, and dyspareunia; also see discomfort in the lower abdomen and depression; light red tongue, thin white greasy coating, and string or string pulse.
Treatment Diversify the liver and Qi, and clear the turbidity of the menstruation.
Radicals: Orange Kernel Pill plus or minus.
If damp-heat is more severe, use Gentian and Liver Dissolution Soup with Tiger Balm, Tai Wu, Orange Kernel, Yu Jin, Xuan Hu, etc. to clear heat and dampness, regulate Qi and activate Blood.
3.Yin deficiency and damp-heat evidence
Symptoms Stinging and pain in the urethra, yellow and burning urine, residual drainage, occasional discharge from the urethra orifice, or crusting of the urethra orifice in the morning; dry mouth and throat, dizziness and tinnitus, soreness and weakness of the waist and knees; red tongue, little or thin yellow and greasy coating, fine pulse.
Treatment Nourish Yin and tonify the kidney, clear heat and dampness.
Prescription Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan with Dioscorea Z, Calamus and Mouton.
(2) External treatment: 30g of each of Phellodendron, Tu Fu Ling, Dioscorea, Bai Xian Pi, Bitter Ginseng, Atractylodes, Qian Li Guang, Dandelion, etc., decocted in water and wash the pubic area twice a day.
IV. Cure standard
If the symptoms disappear after more than 3 weeks of continuous treatment, the urethral secretion smear with multinucleated leukocytes ≤ 4 per field of view (1000×), the prostate fluid with antigens, antibodies and culture proves that no chlamydia or mycoplasma exists, and no pathogenic bacteria are rechecked after 1-2 weeks, it can be judged as a cure.
