Causes of gum enlargement

The causes of gingival hyperplasia are divided into two main categories, as follows: 1, inflammatory gingival hyperplasia: mainly caused by local tartar, plaque and other stimuli; 2, drug gingival hyperplasia: is caused by the long-term use of certain drugs, such as anti-epileptic drugs, phenytoin sodium. After organ transplantation, the use of immunosuppressants such as cyclosporine, and another kind of calcium channel blockers commonly taken by hypertensive patients. For the above mentioned patients, most gingival hyperplasia can subside with standardized periodontal basic treatment, and for gingival hyperplasia that cannot subside completely, the hyperplastic gums can be surgically removed. In conclusion, gingival hyperplasia is a benign lesion and will not cause gum cancer.
